Hot insulation is specified against the operating temperature, not the pipe size. We take the line list, work out the thickness needed to hold the surface temperature and the heat loss you are willing to accept, then select the material and the cladding that will survive the location.
We work in rockwool and fibre glass wool for general process temperatures, ceramic fibre for furnace and kiln work up to 1260 °C, and aerogel where the space around the line will not take a conventional thickness. Finishing is aluminium, GI or stainless sheet, bands and wing seals, detailed so that rain and washdown water cannot get into the wool.
